Design Museums. Fictions or Reality?
care of Guy Julier (Helsinki) and Oriol Pibernat (Barcelona)
On September 19 at 7:00 p.m. (Barcelona local time (UTC +2)
From the Design History Foundation we start our FHD DIALOGUES
The first dialogue between Guy Julier and Oriol Pibernat will be around the Museum of Design
What is a design museum? How to highlight the aesthetic look on the object or will the original context be understandable?
Can we say that everything that is involved is design or, instead, adopt a more exclusive point of view, reserving this category to objects of a utilitarian type that have an artistic intention?
The borders that since the middle of the 20th century have been established between art and design that invoke functionality and the semblen series have been diluted in an integration of diverse stimuli and effects.
The result is that the collections of the museums of design are in territories of great ambiguity between art, technique, ethnography and history.
